AOJ's REEL-TIME Info Produces Kenai Silvers! 9/17/99....Dave is one of AOJ's frequent readers and provides many fishing reports in the Private Angler section throughout the season. There is little doubt about his dedication (and addiction) to Alaska fishing. But with fall arriving, it gets a little harder to decide if its time to cover the boat for the season or head down the road for one last outing. Such was the case this week when he inquired if there was any action picking up on the Kenai Peninsula, either on the Kenai or perhaps feeder kings down Homer way. Things had been pretty slow on the river the past ten days and there wasn't much to pass on....until Wednesday afternoon when my neighbor guide went out for a two hour shot before pulling his own boat for the season. Fish were coming in thick that day (they got 6) and it appeared the second silver run was finally arriving with substantial numbers. This last minute info (not to mention the convincing photos from that day) was just what Dave needed to make the decision to haul his boat down from Anchorage for a shot at these new fish. Unfortunately the "secret" spot I passed on was full of boats but Dave's Plan B location still paid dividends with these two scrappy coho taken on Friday. Dave's Fishing report.
