Seldovia District Tide Table Conversions for Cook Inlet, Alaska
The Cook Inlet area along the east side of the Kenai Peninsula covers a large area. And it is touted that we have the SECOND largest tides in the world at the upper end of the Inlet in Turnagain Arm.
With such a large scale movement of water, tides can vary in height and time from one area to the next. The table below will allow you to use the Master Station data calculated for Seldovia and adjust those times to the area in which you will need tide information.
The process is very straightforward. Here is an example of how to use the tables.
You want to plan a fishing trip for Deep Creek and would like to troll for king salmon on the incoming high tide.
- Go down the column and find Deep Creek.
- Find the value in the TIME - High column....+0:41 minutes.
- Go back to the Seldovia Tide Table for the day you plan to fish.
- Add 41 minutes to the Seldovia high tide for that day.
- This will be the time of the high tide for Deep Creek.
You can use the Height values in the same manner to calculate how high or low the tide will be for your selected area. This comes in handy for estimating clamming tides for beaches throughout Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay areas.
